Essential Consulting Timeline
A strong match application is born from the deliberate development of your ideas. Essential Consulting is built around that process. You’ll work with a physician consultant and dedicated editor, each playing a distinct role in guiding and optimizing your MyERAS application.
-
1
Week 1: Complete Your Development Documents
Within 1 week of activation, complete your CV and Personal Statement Development Documents.
-
2
Week 2: Consultation & Drafting
Meet with your physician consultant for 60 minutes of focused discussion exploring the details of your ERAS CV, supplemental content, and personal statement. You’ll leave the session with a clear idea of how to draft your application documents.
-
3
Weeks 3/4: Document Drafting & Revision
Share your CV and personal statement drafts to begin the revision process. Both your editor and physician consultant review the first drafts, ensuring you receive detailed, comprehensive feedback and revisions at the earliest stage.
-
4
Weeks 4-6: Polish & Finalize
Continue working closely with your editor to perfect your documents and ensure every detail is just right before submission. Your physician consultant will review and approve your final drafts.
If you have an upcoming rotation (or other CV experience) outside of the 5-week collaboration window, that’s no problem!
Just let your consultant know ahead of time; they will save space in your CV so you can add the pending experiences when ready (before 9/1).
At Class Act, integrity comes first. We will help you shape a personal statement and CV that authentically represent who you are and the experiences you’ve acquired. This is achieved through a collaborative and iterative process that explores, evaluates, and refines your ideas.
After the initial CV and PS consults, we provide comprehensive document development services through an efficient, asynchronous process. Your dedicated workspace allows you to communicate with your physician consultant and editor, easily exchange documents, and share feedback for revision through detailed comments. This approach allows for careful consideration of each element while accommodating varied schedules and time zones.
*Additional face-to-face consulting sessions can be added at any time during your collaboration window.
*We strongly discourage the use of AI in the early phases of your brainstorming and drafting. Programs will quickly identify applications dual-authored by ChatGPT and the like, so AI tools should only be used for proofreading and light editing.
MyERAS CV Development & Polishing
Step 1: Initial Review & Assessment
We’ll review your complete professional history, identifying key experiences and elements needed for a strong residency CV. This includes research, clinical work, volunteer activities, leadership roles, and other relevant experiences.
Step 2: 30-Minute Consultation
Meet with your physician consultant to discuss the overarching plan for your CV and clarify any details before working on your draft. This is a crucial part of the development process and ensures you feel confident about your direction and that your efforts are focused and intentional from the start.
Step 3: First Draft
Work through our step-by-step ERAS Application Development System to build your CV. Each writing component* of the MyERAS section is covered in depth, keeping you on track and focused on making your entries clear, detailed, and impactful. You’ll construct your draft using our pre-designed template that mirrors ERAS, allowing for seamless transfer.
Step 4: Revision & Polishing
Share your CV draft with your editor and collaborate through rounds of revision. Each round focuses on two areas: development, which strengthens and expands your content, and polishing, which sharpens the language, structure, and formatting for a final, professional finish.
*ERAS CV services include 10 experiences, 3 meaningful experiences, impactful experience, academic/professional Interruptions or extensions, geographic & setting preferences, hobbies, honors/awards, and professional memberships.
Personal Statement - Full Service
Step 1: Foundation Building
Begin by completing our structured reflection guide, designed to uncover the unique experiences and insights that will shape your personal statement.
Step 2: 30-Minute Consultation
Meet with your physician consultant to review an outline of your personal statement, thoughtfully developed after a close reading of your PS Reflection Guide. Together, you’ll refine the direction of your story, identify key themes, and clarify the details that will bring your experiences to life in the first draft.
Step 3: First Draft
Work through our PS Development System to create your first draft. You’ll aim to capture the narrative and insights discussed during your consultation while incorporating your authentic voice. Your draft may be up to 2 pages in length, as it’s always easier to begin with robust content.
Step 4: Collaborative Refinement
Share your PS draft with your editor and collaborate through rounds of revision. Your editor will elevate each draft while remaining true to your authentic voice and organic ideas. They may also provide targeted questions designed to deepen reflection and help your story continue unfolding naturally through subsequent revisions.
